Why this site exists

What Is Arbaeen exists to make the message and journey of Arbaeen easier to understand. We share clear educational resources, practical guidance, pilgrim stories, and community updates for those who want to learn about Imam Hussain (AS) and the walk to Karbala.

Our aim is simple: help people approach Arbaeen with knowledge, respect, preparation, and love.

What we are building

• A free, trustworthy guide for first-time and returning pilgrims
• The Mawakib Line — an index of 822+ recorded camps along the Najaf–Karbala route
• The Mawakib App — a directory, registration, and volunteering platform for camps and pilgrims
• A volunteer network of translators, guides, medics, writers, and developers

Who this is for

First-time pilgrims. Families planning the journey together. Younger Muslims who have heard about Arbaeen but need an accessible explanation. Non-Muslims, media, schools, and interfaith groups curious about one of the world's largest peaceful gatherings. Volunteers, group leaders, and community organisers who make the journey possible.

🌴 A vision for the road: Palms for the Road

One day, we want the ways leading to Karbala to be lined with palm trees — living shade for the pilgrims who walk them, dates offered freely in season, and a green line of sadaqah jariyah that outlives everyone who plants it.

This begins with land: a plot in the Najaf–Karbala region to grow palms from offshoots for the years they need before roadside planting, alongside permissions from the route authorities and partnerships with those already greening the holy cities.

We are not collecting donations for this yet — that begins only when the land is secured. But if you can help us get there, we want to hear from you:

• You own or know of land in the Najaf–Karbala corridor — for sale, lease, or waqf
• You run or work with a date farm that could host a nursery
• You have contacts in the shrine foundations' agricultural projects or provincial municipalities
• You are an agronomist or have experience with palm cultivation and drip irrigation
• You understand waqf and land law in Iraq
